June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, which celebrates our feline friends and the joy they bring to our lives. Every year, many, many cats wind up in shelters, and many never find their forever homes. If you do end up adopting cats from these facilities, you actually save two lives: the one you take home, and the one you make space for.
If it isn’t the right time for you to take home a kitty cat, or if you already have a bunch of fur babies at home, you can also celebrate Adopt a Cat Month by:
- Microchipping your pet. Microchipping greatly reduces the number of pets that wind up in shelters, as it allows authorities to reconnect owners with lost pets quickly and easily.
- Spaying or neutering your cat. This eliminates the possibility of an unwanted litter that could end up in a shelter.
Also, did you know that at Glendale Animal Hospital, we operate a small cat-and-kitten rescue organization called the Safe Harbor Rescue? Yes, we do! At the Safe Harbor Rescue, we are able to house up to 13 cats and kittens with the help of volunteers who work 24/7 to make sure these felines have everything they need.
Be sure to check-out the Safe Harbor rescue kitties the next time you are in our hospital and if you are considering adopting a new furry family member contact us about available cats and kittens today at 630-858-3530. We might be able to connect you with your new best friend!
